Remembrance Day

“But the freedom that they fought for, and the country grand they wrought for, is their monument today, and for aye”. Thomas Dunn English

It is with great honour that our team at Syndicate Lending Corporation serves this beautiful country, its citizens and institutions. We recognize that our ability to develop in this prosperous society is thanks to our war heroes who made it possible for us to live in a free country.

To show our gratitude to Canada and in the loving memory of our fallen heroes, our team joined the Royal Canadian Legion’ activities to raise funds for the National Poppy Fund on Remembrance Day. Our team dedicated their time and volunteered to sell poppies to individuals and families who wanted to honour war heroes on this civic holiday. The Poppy is a common symbol of remembrance for those who died in the pursuit of freedom and the significance of this symbol can be traced back to the 19th century. Records from that time indicate how thick Poppies grew over the graves of soldiers where fields that had been barren before battle exploded with the blood-red flowers after the fighting ended. This is why people wear a poppy as a pin on their left breasts in the weeks leading up to Remembrance Day.

It is with great pride our team joined the Royal Canadian Legion in these activities while reconnecting with the history of this country. Pandemic restrictions have caused the reduction and cancellation of important ceremonies celebrated on Remembrance day. With all precautions in place, our team at Syndicate Lending Corporation was happy to invest their time selling poppies to honour our war heroes and this great country.

Remembrance day is a day for all Canadians to remember the men and women who served and sacrificed for our country. It’s a day we encourage every individual, young and old, to pause, to give thanks and to remember.
